Tinryland minors start their league campaign with a win against O’Hanrahans

Tinryland minors began the M.F.L. Division B campaign with a very easy win over a youthful O’Hanrahans at Rathcrogue on Sunday 17th April. Tinryland totally dominated this one sided game even though O’Hanrahans were first on the scoreboard in the opening minute with a point from their mid fielder Paddy Fitzgerald. A Keelan Gaffney goal in the 2nd minute set the tone for this match and by half time Tinryland led by 5-13 to 0-1 with the goals being scored by Gaffney (2), Conor Brennan (2) and Ronan Curran from the penalty spot on the stroke of half time.

Tinryland selectors made a drastic change for the second half by completely reversing the backs and forwards which saw the Blues score 1-1 in the opening 10 minutes of the 2nd half. Tinryland got back on track with another Keelan Gaffney goal in the 40th minute and when Shea Byrne added another in the 42nd minute this game was well over as a contest. To their credit O’Hanrahans never stopped trying and they added 2 further goals from Lorcan Thompson before Tinryland closed out the scoring with a goal from Fergal Kelly and points from Ronan Curran and Co. minor Conor Ryan.

Outstanding for Tinryland were Tommy Dunne, Rory Dunbar, Cormac Kelly, Conor Ryan, Johnny Curran, Keelan Gaffney, Ronan Curran and Conor Brennan.

Final score Tinryland 7-15 O’Hanrahans 3-2

The minors will be back in action on Sunday 1st May with another home fixture against Clonmore at 12 noon with further games on 8th May away to Kildavin, on 15th May away to St. Patricks and another game away to Myshall on a date to be confirmed.
