Tinryland Junior A team maintained their amazing scoring record with another high octane performance away to O’Hanrahans in Deerpark on Sunday 18th May. Already assured of a semi- final place in Division 4 the Tinryland lads added another 4 goals and 16 points to their seasonal tally in a game that was over as a contest as early as the 12th minute. At this stage Tinryland led by 3-5 to 0-0 with the three opening goals being scored by Chris Townsend, Alan Barrett and Gary Fields. Tinryland were showing a tremendous workrate at this stage and the home side had no answer to their high powered running game as they constantly worked the ball from defence to attack. The first half pressure exerted by Tinryland saw the O’Hanrahans having to wait until the 18th minute for their opening point from lively mid fielder Eddie Davis and when referee Seamus Doyle sounded the half time whistle Tinryland led by 3-9 to 0-1.

Tinryland began the second half in similar fashion scoring three unanswered points in the opening 8 minutes via Chris Townsend (2) and Garry Fields before the Blues got their second point from mid field player Jamie Hennessy. The O’Hanrahans goalie Michael Power then brought off a wonderful save from Jeff Abbott  before the home side finally got one past David O’Neill to leave the scoreboard reading 3-12 to 1-2 in Tinryland’s favour mid- way through the second half.

Great defensive play by James Moore, Kevin Barrett and Padraig Delaney ensured that no more goals were conceded and the attacking half back line of John Jackson, Shane Delaney and Gary Scully ensured a plentiful supply of ball to the forwards who have now scored an amazing 32 goals and 66 points in the 6 Division 4 games played this season. The final stages of this game saw Tinryland add on a further goal when Gary Scully lobbed the Blues keeper and the game was well over as a contest when Alan Barrett and Gary Fields added further points to Tinryland’s tally in the closing ten minutes. Final score Tinryland 4-16 O’Hanrahans 1-7
