Result: Tinryland 2-08    Old Leighlin 0-05

Despite playing into a stiff breeze  Tinryland battled hard in a low-scoring first half. Tinryland trailed by four points to two at half time with a fantastic point-blank save from Darren Murphy in the 22nd minute keeping the deficit to two points.

Tinryland opened the second half with much more intensity and by the 9th minute they had scored a goal and three points. Opening points from Cormac Walshe and Robbie Power were followed by a goal from sub Ian Scully (after excellent link-up play from full forward Evan Doyle). Two more frees from Ian Scully and a converted penalty by Paul Broderick (after he was taken down in the square) were added to by a long-range effort from Glen Doyle. Amazingly, the county champions  did not score a single point until injury time in the second half when David Bambrick got a consolation point. Despite not getting on the score sheet, the immense contribution of Padraig Townsend proved to be a thorn in the side of Old Leighlin for the 60 minutes.
