The concession of three goals in the first 20 minutes proved Tinryland’s downfall in the Tile N’Style U16 Division 2 final against Burren Rangers played at Dr. Cullen Park on Saturday 25th October. Tinryland got off to a great start in this game scoring 2 points via Gavin Power and Conor Brennan in the opening 3 minutes but this was as good as it got for the boys in blue and white. Two quick goals in the 5th and 7th minutes from Burren corner forward Conor Moore gave the Ballon combination a lead they never relinquished  and a 3rd goal from the same player after 22 minutes meant that Tinryland would be playing catch up for the remainder of the game.

Tinryland did produce some positive football in that opening half and in a 5 minute spell between the 15th and 20th minutes tagged on 3 well taken points via Conor Brennan, Gavin Power and Ronan Curran. At this stage the Tinryland players were taking the game to their opponents and those 3 scores were the result of some great play involving Eoin Hosey, Eamonn Murphy, Conor Ryan and Rory Doyle. Burren Rangers also created chances during this spell and it took a great save from Tinryland goalie Cian Nolan to deny Burrens man of the match Adam Feeney a goal in the 12th minute. Tinryland’s Conor Brennan from a free and Burren’s Adam Feeney closed the first half scoring to leave the scoreboard reading 3-2 to 0-6 at half time.

Tinryland began the 2nd half in more positive fashion and good play by wing forward Fergal Kelly resulted in a Rory Doyle point in the 33rd minute. Tinryland were now creating chances but a lot of wayward shooting resulted in a long barren spell before midfielder Keelan Gaffney reduced the margin to 3 points in the 43rd minute following good play by Eamonn Murphy. Gavin Power then won a free following a good pass from Gaffney and the resultant successful conversion from Conor Brennan left only 2 points separating the sides with 15 minutes remaining. Burren Rangers then upped the ante scoring two excellent points from centre forward Ryan Clark as Tinryland continued to waste chances at the other end despite enjoying a fair amount of the play. With the clock ticking towards the final whistle Tinryland’s woes were compounded when Rory Dunbar received a black card and Burren sealed the game shortly afterwards when sub Keelan O’Byrne crashed his side’s 4th goal past Cian Nolan. Tinryland scored a consolation point deep in stoppage time when sub Padraig Webb pointed to leave the final score Burren Rangers 4-4, Tinryland 0-10.
