J.F.C. (C) group1

Tinryland 1-8 Mount Leinster Rangers 1-8

Tinryland and Mount Leinster Rangers served up an entertaining drawn game at Rathcrogue on Wednesday last 23rd September in the J.F.C. C championship. This result leaves the home team still in pole position in group 1 with one game remaining.

Rangers were fastest out of the blocks and led 0-4 to 0-1 at the first water break.

Dean Grennan (2), Jack Ryan and Niall Lynam were the MLR scorers in this phase with Richie Whyte slotting over Tinryland’s solitary point.

Both sides only managed a further single point each before the break from Gary Scully (Tinryland) and Dara Tobin (Rangers)

Tinryland began the second half on a high note and a Jason Noctor goal 2 minutes after the restart followed by quick points from Michael Mullen and Richie Whyte resulted in a 5 point turnaround as early as the 35th minute. Rory Joyce steadied the M.L.R. ship but 3 further points from Michael Mullen (2) and sub Andrew Hanly left Tinryland 4 points clear with 6 minutes remaining.

A Rangers goal from substitute Niall Canning left the minimum separating the sides with time running out. Tinryland looked to have taken all the points when Aongus O’Shea raised a white flag. However Mount Leinster Rangers gained a share of the spoils with 2 late points from one of their best players Dean Grennan.
