Good start to season for Tinryland Junior A squad in Carlow S.F.L. Division 3

Tinryland Junior A team made a good start to the S.F.L. Division 3 campaign with a comfortable victory over St. Patricks in Tullow on Tuesday 27th March 2012.

Tinryland were 4 points up after 6 minutes following excellent scores from Dean Farrell, P.J. Murphy, Garry Fields and Padraig Whelan. Tinryland then conceeded a soft goal to the home side and the concession of another ball in the 20th minute left St Patricks leading by 1-2 to 0-4 at this stage. Tinryland then upped their game once more and following good work by Joey Ryan, P J Murphy and Garry Fields full forward David Townsend crashed the ball to the Tullow  net to give the team in blue and white a lead they would not relinquish. At half time Tinryland led 1-6 to 1-3.

The second half was barely 20 seconds old when Tinryland’s midfielder and man of the match Dean Farrell scored a brilliant goal and when the same player pointed 1 minute later Tinryland were 7 points ahead. The remainder of the game saw Tinryland more than holding their own against the home side. 7 further Tinryland points from Garry Fields, Jack Lowry, David Townsend (2) Padraig Whelan (2) and sub Paul McGrath saw Tinryland winners on a soreline of 2-14 to 1-6. Tinryland will be back in action on Tuesday 3rd April with a home fixture with St Mullins.
