Tinryland GFC Notes 8th April

Lotto results for Mon 1st  April. The numbers drawn were 3, 7, 8, 24. There was no jackpot winner. Winners of €25 lucky dips: Michael Hosey, Geraldine Connell, Bernie Williams & Declan O’Loughlin. Promoters’ prize: Mick Murphy. Next week’s jackpot €6600.

Results:

Tinryland lost to Kildavin/Clonegal in Div 4 league on a wet and windy Wednesday night. Tinryland led at half time 1-06 to 0-08. The goal coming from the boot of Cathal Whelan. Kildavin took advantage of the wind in the second half and outscored Tinryland 1-08 Kildavin/Clonegal, 0-16. Best for Tinryland Harry Hennessy, John Farrell, Greg Murphy, Conor Brennan and Cathal Whelan.

Tinryland seniors picked up their first point of their league campaign in an entertaining match against their neighbours Palatine at Palatine G.F.C on Friday Night. The home side leading 2-6 to 0-4 at the half time break. Tinryland took the lead for the first time in the match with time almost up. Palatine had one more chance in the dying stages after Tinryland gifted them the ball. The home team pressed forward and kicked the equalising point. Final score Palatine 2-10, Tinryland 3-7. Special thanks to Palatine G.F.C who donated their gate takings to the Carlow Hospice. The Andy Murphy Shield remains in Palatine Clubhouse.

Tinryland maintained their unbeaten record in Div 3 against Leighlinbridge on Saturday evening. Scorers: Padraic Whelan 3-3, Paul Doyle 1-1, Glen Doyle 0-4, Mark Lawlor 0-1 & Dinny Farrell 0-2. Final score Tinryland 2-13 Leighlinbridge 1-12.

Upcoming matches:

SFL Div 1 round 4 Tinryland play Eire Óg on Fri 12th April @ 8pm. In Div 3 Tinryland meet Ballon on Sat 13th April @ 7pm. In Div 4 Tinryland play Askea on Sun 14th  April @ 7pm. All of the above matches will be played at home.

Handball:

Congratulations to Tinryland handballers Arron Geoghegan and Kevin Barrett on winning Leinster Junior Doubles. When they beat Darren O’Toole and Malachy Fogarty (Wexford) in the final played in Coolboy (Wicklow). Best of luck to them in the All-Ireland Semi Finals when they take on Clare.  

Upcoming fundraiser:

Race night in clubhouse Fri 26th April @ 8.30pm. This is to raise much needed funds towards upgrading our dressings rooms. Horses can be purchased from any club member and from the clubhouse. All sponsorship welcome.

 

Dancing:

Social dancing at club house every Monday night from 9.30 pm - Midnight. Admission €10. Dancing next week 15th April to Adrian Ryan.  

Spring clean:

Tinryland community spring clean Sat 13th from 10 am, meet at Tinryland Parish Centre. All help appreciated. Refreshment’s will be provided.
