Match reports:

Tinryland senior footballers got their Michael Lyng Motors S.F.C. campaign back on track in a big way with a great win over current champions Eire Óg at Netwatch Cullen Park on Saturday last. Early and late goals from Diarmaid Walshe and sub. Matthew O’Toole laid the foundations for this victory with the men in blue and white rewarded with their 2nd victory in this year’s championship. Tinryland led for most of the first half after Walshe’s early goal but by half time the sides were tied at 1-3 each. Eire Óg led for a brief period in the 2nd half but the introduction of fresh legs resulted in Tinryland upping the tempo in the closing stages with late points from Conor and Matthew O’Toole and the clinching goal from the latter who was introduced as a substitute mid- way through the 2nd half. Tinryland will now advance to the quarter final in two weeks when they play our neighbours Palatine.

Bennekerry/Tinryland senior ladies will attempt to regain the Carlow S.F.C. title when they take on current Carlow and Leinster champions Old Leighlin in the 2019 final on Thursday next 29th August at Netwatch Cullen Park at 8 p.m. The BT ladies have already beaten their opponents in this year’s group stage but lost out to them in the league final earlier in the year. Both sides are expected to be at full strength for next Thursday’s game under floodlights and with a strong representation of county players in action for both teams a closely fought game is anticipated. Bennekerry/Tinryland senior panel recently received a new set of jerseys sponsored by Dublin based Co. Flexi Fi. The jerseys were presented to the panel by CEO P J Byrne and Carlow area manager David Hickey on Wednesday last.
