Tinryland GFC Notes 1 April 2019

Lotto results for Mon 25th Mar. The numbers drawn were 12, 17, 19, 20. There was no jackpot winner. Winners of €25 lucky dips: Mick Moran, May Byrne, Sean Byrne & Bridget Fields. Promoters’ prize: P.J. Murphy. Next week’s jackpot €6500.

Results:

Tinryland seniors were beaten by Old Leighlin in the Division 1 League on Friday night. It was an equally contested first half as both teams tried to get a stronghold. Two goals by Padraig Whelan left Tinryland, the home side, one point up at the half time break. The half time score was Tinryland 2-4 to Old Leighlin 1-9. As in the previous league match against Ballinabranna, the second half was completely dominated by a strong Old Leighlin side as they proceeded to take control. Strong and tenacious tackling by Old Leighlin helped them take a comfortable lead as they ran out easy winners with a final score-line of Old Leighlin 3-14 to Tinryland 2-07.

Tinryland Div 3 team had a very good win at home on Saturday evening against a gallant Old Leighlin team. Half time score 0-7 to 1-2. Old Leighlin goal coming from a penalty spot. In the second half Tinryland pulled away scoring 3-08. Best for Tinryland Conal O’Shea, Paul Doyle, Jack Murphy & Evan Doyle. Final score Old Leighlin 1-04 Tinryland 3-15.

Tinryland’s Div 4 team lost to Fenagh in a very entertaining match at home on Sunday evening. Tinryland lead by 2 points at half time. The opposition scored 2 goals in the second half to win. Best for Tinryland Cormac O’Brien, Dinny Farrell, Joey Ryan and Conal O’Shea. Final score Tinryland 1-10 Fenagh 4-11.

U15’s got their league off to a great start with a win over O’Hanrahan’s. A good team performance with Josh Donegan and Bobby Doyle working tirelessly & upfront Alex Farrell, Seamus McCullagh & Peter Whelan were always a treat on the opposition goal. Full time score Tinryland 4-1 O’Hanrahan’s 2-4.

Upcoming matches:

SFL Div 1 round 3 Tinryland are away to Palatine Fri 5th April @ 8pm, this game will also double up as the Andy Murphy memorial. In Div 3 Tinryland play Leighlinbridge in Paul Monaghan Park on Sat 6th April @ 7pm. In Div 4 Tinryland meet Kildavin/Clonegal in Spellman Park on Wed 3rd April @7pm.

Upcoming fundraiser:

Tinryland gfc are holding a race night Friday 26th April to raise much need funds for the club. Sponsorship cards are available in the clubhouse.

Dancing:

Social dancing at club house every Monday night from 9.30 pm - Midnight. Admission €10. Dancing next week 8th April to T.R. Dallas.

Running:

Congratulations to Tommy Payne from Tinryland Athletic club who won world silver in cross country in Poland last weekend.
