The big talking point of the past week was the senior championship draws which took place in Carlow Co. board offices on Tuesday last. Tinryland was drawn in a tough group that includes former recent championship winners Palatine, Rathvilly and Old Leighlin.

The men in blue and white hoops will open their challenge on July 22nd with a mouth- watering local derby against our neighbours Palatine. There will be further group games against Rathvilly and Old Leighlin during August.

In the Junior football (A) championship Tinryland will begin their challenge against St. Patricks at the end of July followed by further games with Leighlinbridge and Naomh Eoin.

At junior (B) level Tinryland will play O’Hanrahans on 13th June followed by games with Kildavin/Clonegal and Eire Og.

Tickets are now available for the re-arranged joint dinner dance of Tinryland G.F.C. and Bennekerry-Tinryland ladies club. The function will take place on Friday 23rd March in the Seven Oaks Hotel. Those planning to attend are urged to purchase tickets by this coming weekend to enable numbers to be given to the hotel.

Four Tinryland players were involved in Carlow’s comfortable Allianz N.F.L. victory over Wicklow at Netwatch Cullen Park on Saturday last. Paul Broderick who scored 1-7 together with Shane Redmond, Cian Lawlor and Diarmaid Walshe all contributed to Carlow maintaining their 100% record. The team is back in action away to Antrim at Corrigan Park in Belfast on Sunday next. A bus for Carlow supporters will leave the Lord Bagenal Hotel in Leighlinbridge at 8.a.m. on Sunday morning and will stop at Tinryland G.A.A. club in Rathcrogue. There are a limited number of seats still left on this bus. Further details from Jim O’Reilly at 085 2827905.
