Well done to the Tinryland players involved with the Carlow senior and minor teams on Sunday last. In the senior match Paul Broderick, Danny Moran and Shane Redmond had outstanding games with Paul scoring 10 points and Danny getting a vital second half goal to help Carlow into the quarter final against Dublin. In the minor game that saw Wexford defeat Carlow by a single point Keelan Gaffney and Ronan Curran both played very well.

The Senior’s minus their 3 Co. players lost out to Old Leighlin by 4 points in a high quality division 1 game  played in Rathcrogue on Saturday last. Having won 5 of their 7 league games, Tinryland despite this loss have still guaranteed themselves a place in the league semi-finals as they attempt to win the competition for the first time since 1968.

Tinryland were playing catch up straight from the throw in and conceded a goal after only 10 seconds. At half time Old Leighlin led by 4 points and they extended that advantage to 7 before Tinryland sub Diarmaid Walshe scored a consolation goal with the last kick of the game.

The No. 1 junior team remain in contention for a place in the Division 3 semi-final after they defeated Leighlinbridge in Ballinaboley on Tuesday last. Tinryland got off to a blistering start scoring 3 goals and a point in the opening 6 minutes. Leading by 3-5 to 0-4 at half time the men in blue and white survived a great second half comeback by the All Blacks and victory was assured when Dean Farrell rattled the Leighlinbridge net on the stroke of full time. Best for Tinryland were Peter Hennessy, Padraic Whelan, Dean Farrell, and Paul Doyle. The Junior team is back in action this evening Tuesday away to Palatine as they attempt to reach the semi-final.

The second junior team are still seeking a first win in division 4 after losing out to Palatine in Bennekerry on Wednesday last. Best for Tinryland who play Askea next were Cathal Whelan, Jason Curran, Seamus Curran, Joey Ryan and John Jackson.

The table quiz held on Friday last in aid of the juvenile section was very successful with 26 teams taking part.
